Telo AI, Inc. (“Telo AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) builds AI-powered speaking practice for English learners and other K-12 students. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in two settings:

Site. For information collected through the Site, Telo AI decides how the information is used.
School Services. For information processed through the School Services, we act on behalf of, and under the direction of, the School. The School decides what information is provided and how it may be used. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), we act as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest, and under state privacy laws we act as a service provider or processor. Our agreement with each School, including our Data Processing Agreement (together, the “School Agreement”), governs our processing of student data. If this Privacy Policy and a School Agreement conflict, the School Agreement controls.
If you are a student or a parent, please contact your school with any questions about student data. We will help the School respond.
When you request a quote, book a demo, contact us, or subscribe to updates, we collect the information you choose to give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, role, school or district name, region and state, number of classrooms, teachers, or students, products of interest, preferred contract length, and any message you send.
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit, using cookies and similar technologies. The Site uses Google’s analytics services to understand how visitors use the Site, and Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors interact with pages (for example, clicks and scrolling) to help us improve the Site’s design. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. The third-party analytics providers named above may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites.
We process only the information needed to provide the School Services, which may include:
Audio is never stored: it is streamed through LiveKit and transcribed in real time. The transcript is kept only until the end of the session, when our AI analyzes it to generate insights, and is then deleted: we keep only the resulting insights. Images captured by the camera of the robot or of the student’s device are processed in real time to generate a response and are not stored. We do not use facial recognition, and we do not use voice recordings or images to identify individuals.
TelOne and the TelOne Dashboard do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
We use information collected through the Site to respond to your requests and send quotes, to schedule and run demos, to send educators and district staff information about Telo AI (you can opt out at any time), to understand and improve the Site, and to protect the Site and comply with the law.

We may also create de-identified data from the School Services, such as learner preferences, insights derived from conversations, and usage statistics, from which all identifiers have been removed so that it cannot reasonably be linked to any School, student, or teacher. It never includes audio recordings, transcripts, or the text of conversations. We use it only to operate and improve the School Services, including their personalization and engagement features, and to describe our results in aggregate form. We do not sell it, share it other than in aggregate form, use it to train AI models, or attempt to re-identify anyone.
The School Services generate responses with an open-weight large language model that we run on Amazon Bedrock, within our own Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) environment. Speech recognition uses Amazon Transcribe, and speech synthesis uses Amazon Polly. Real-time audio is transmitted through LiveKit. The developer of the language model does not receive information processed through the School Services, and we have configured our AWS environment so that AWS does not use School Services content to train or improve its own AI services.
AI-generated content can be inaccurate. The School Services are designed to support teachers, not replace them, and teachers remain in control of the goals, topics, and rules for each session.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Site is intended for adults, such as educators and district staff, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.
Students under 13 use the School Services only through their School. As permitted by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and the guidance of the Federal Trade Commission, we rely on the School to authorize the collection of students’ personal information on behalf of parents, for the School’s educational purposes only. We collect from children only the information described in Section III, use it only to provide the School Services, and disclose it only as described in Section VI. We do not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to take part in an activity.
A School may at any time ask to review the personal information collected from its students, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop collecting it, by writing to privacy@mytelo.ai. Parents may make these requests through their child’s School. Our contact details as operator are listed in Section XV.
Student data we process for a School may be part of the School’s education records under FERPA. The School controls these records, and parents and eligible students exercise their FERPA rights, such as access and correction, through the School. We comply with the state student privacy laws that apply to operators of K-12 online services, such as the California Student Online Personal Information Protection Act and New York Education Law § 2-d, as reflected in our School Agreements.
We process and store School Services data in the United States, in the US East region of AWS. LiveKit routes real-time audio for users in the United States through servers located in the United States.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication for system access, role-based access controls, and security monitoring. We do not store the names or email addresses of students or teachers. Only personnel who need student data to provide the School Services can access it, and they are trained on their privacy obligations. If a security incident affects student data, we will notify the affected School as described in the School Agreement. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Site. We keep information collected through the Site for as long as needed for the purposes described in Section IV, and then delete it.
School Services. We keep School Services data for the term of the School Agreement, or for a shorter period if the School so instructs. When the School Agreement ends, the School can retrieve its data for 30 days, after which we delete it or convert it into de-identified data as described in Section IV. Copies in backup systems are deleted in the ordinary course of our backup procedures. A School may request deletion at any time.
The Site and the School Services may link to other websites and services, such as Clever, ClassLink, or YouTube. This Privacy Policy does not apply to them, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last Updated” date. If we make a material change to how we handle student data, we will notify Schools in advance, and we will not apply the change to student data already collected without the School’s consent where the law or the School Agreement requires it.
